ACADEMY OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

If you are interested in carrying out a career in a digital or technological filled workplace, consider Academy of Information Technology (AOIT). Whether you have interests in programming, database administration, web design administration, or digital networking, AOIT has a place for you. AOIT provides students with a rigorous academic curriculum, while exposing them to the varied career paths and opportunities available in the information technology industry. Students will gain exposure and have the opportunities to engage in an intense, project-based curriculum focused on skills needed for the quickly growing, dynamic, and vast IT field.

01 FRESHMAN

Students will participate in the Freshman Academy to prepare them for the upcoming years once they have entered the Information Technology Academy.

SOPHOMORE 02

Students will begin the program with classes discussing Principles of Information Technology, giving them a basis for future classes and years in the Academy. Each student will visit different businesses around Birmingham to get an introduction to what careers are available in the Information Technology community.

03 JUNIOR

Students will advance to Computer Networking classes where they will get hands-on experiences in the field and in the classroom learning an introduction to the design and analysis of computer communication networks. The students will be involved in on-the-job-shadowing with Information Technology companies in the Birmingham area.

SENIOR 04

Students will take classes pertaining to Computer Systems. The content includes fundamental concepts of hardware and software as applied to computers in a business environment; programming, operating systems, the Internet, data communications, systems development life cycle, and information systems; use of typical software packages including word processing, spread sheeting, database, and presentation graphics. During the students’ second semester, they will participate in an internship at an Information Technology based business in the Birmingham area.
