THE PROCESS

ACADEMY OF ENGINEERING

Interested in learning how bridges, buildings, and rockets are made? Does seeing how things are constructed fascinate you? Engineering may be your calling. If so, the Academy of Engineering (AOE) is the place to begin. AOE helps students dig deep into how things are designed with hands-on projects dealing with real-world problems. Upon finishing the program at AOE, students have the skills and experience to begin a career in engineering or continue to pursue their passion at a college or university.

01 FRESHMAN

Freshman year begins with the design process. You’ll learn how to think through a design using specialized tools such as the engineer’s workbook and 3D modeling. This is where you learn to think like an engineer.

SOPHOMORE 02

Now, you’ll really be learning some of the nuts and bolts of engineering. Sophomores begin to learn college preparatory disciplines such as mechanics, energy, statics, materials, and kinematics.

03 JUNIOR

By this year, you’ll be learning about engineering that makes every day devices work such as mobile phones, MP3 players, laptop computers, and HDTV work.

SENIOR 04

Seniors in the AOE work with industry professionals to define, build, and test solutions to real-world problems. Here you begin to see how the previous three years prepared you for doing those things you only imagined you could do. Now, you understand how math is actually used in the real world, and you’re ready to start a career or move on to greater things at college.
